Terms and Conditions

These terms apply to every visit to maisondor.ca and to every purchase of a Maison D’Or piece. By placing an order, you accept them.

1. The house

   Maison D’Or is a house of haute sculpture based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. You can reach us at atelier@maisondor.ca.

2. Our pieces

   Every piece is cast in resin concrete and marble dust and finished by hand. Natural variations in colour, veining and texture, and small surface marks, are part of the material and of the handwork; they are not defects. We photograph each piece faithfully, but colours may look slightly different on your screen.

3. Sold once, never reproduced

   Each piece is sold only once. When a piece is marked as sold, it is retired for good: under the rules of the house, it will never be reproduced. A piece is reserved for you only once your payment has been received.

4. Prices and payment

   Prices are in Canadian dollars. Applicable taxes and shipping costs are shown before you confirm your order. Payment is due in full when you order and is processed by our payment provider.

5. Orders

   We confirm every order by email. We may decline or cancel an order, for example in the case of an obvious pricing error or if the piece has already been sold; in that case, we refund any amount you have paid in full.

6. Shipping and delivery

   Each piece is packed by hand and shipped with tracking and insurance. Delivery times are estimates. Responsibility for the piece passes to you on delivery.

7. Damage in transit

   Please inspect your piece when it arrives. If it arrives damaged, write to atelier@maisondor.ca within 48 hours of delivery with photographs of the piece and its packaging, and keep all of the packaging. We will arrange its return and refund you in full. Because the piece is one of a kind, it cannot be replaced by an identical one.

8. Returns

   Because each piece is unique and made by hand, all sales are final, except for damage in transit as described above or where the law gives you another right.

9. Commissions

   Commissioned pieces are made at your request. Their price, timing, deposit and conditions are agreed with you in writing before work begins.

10. Authenticity

    Every piece comes with the Maison D’Or seal pressed into its base, an eight-digit serial number and a signed certificate of authenticity. Without these three marks, a piece is not a Maison D’Or.

11. Care

    Follow the care card included with your piece. We are not responsible for damage caused by misuse, impact, outdoor exposure or care products not recommended by the house.

12. Intellectual property

    The designs, photographs, texts, logo, seal and name of Maison D’Or belong to Maison D’Or. Buying a piece makes you the owner of that piece; it does not give you the right to copy, cast or reproduce its design.

13. Liability

    To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim related to a piece is limited to the price you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under consumer protection law.

14. Governing law

    These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

15. Changes

    We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published on this page on the day you placed it.
